Job Description
A leading financial services firm in Cape Town is seeking a highly skilled Tax Practitioner to join their dynamic team. This permanent position offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional with strong technical expertise, client-facing skills, and a proven track record in tax and accounting.
The ideal candidate will have a tertiary qualification, at least 5 years of practical tax and accounting experience, and hands-on proficiency with SARS eFiling, Draftworx, Sage Accounting (Sage One), and/or Xero. Registration as a Tax Practitioner and/or completion of SAIPA or SAICA articles will be considered a strong advantage.
✅ Key Requirements
- Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or Tax.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in tax and accounting within an accounting, audit, or financial services firm.
- Proven expertise with SARS eFiling, Draftworx, Sage One, and Xero Accounting.
- Registered Tax Practitioner and/or completed SAIPA / SAICA articles (advantageous).
- Strong knowledge of:
- International Accounting Standards (IAS)
- IFRS for SMEs
- Companies Act
- Income Tax Act & Tax Administration Act
- VAT, PAYE, and SARS dispute resolution processes
- Experience managing a portfolio of clients and handling direct client correspondence.
- Excellent communication skills in English and Afrikaans.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to meet strict deadlines.
📊 Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit accurate tax computations, returns, reconciliations, and schedules.
- Compile Annual Financial Statements (AFS), management statements, and reports.
- Manage Income Tax, Provisional Tax, VAT, PAYE, Dividend Tax, and Estate Planning.
- Liaise with SARS on objections, appeals, and dispute resolution processes.
- Provide professional support and training to team members.
- Handle client queries on bookkeeping, tax, and financial reporting.
- Ensure compliance with evolving tax laws and regulations.
- Assist with billing processes and maintain accurate timesheets.
