We’re looking for a hands‑on Lead Accountant to take charge of the full accounting function in our fast‑paced logistics business. This is a senior role where you’ll ensure accurate reporting, compliance, and strong financial controls, while driving cost management and providing financial insights that shape operational decisions.

You’ll work closely with operations, procurement, fleet, warehousing, and senior management to maintain financial integrity across the logistics value chain, while leading and mentoring the finance team.

What you’ll do:

• Oversee financial accounting, reporting, and compliance with IFRS, VAT, PAYE, and audit requirements
• Lead month‑end and year‑end processes, prepare management accounts and financial statements
• Drive budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to support cost‑saving initiatives
• Manage cash flow, payments, and banking relationships
• Control fleet and fuel costs, reconcile systems with financial records
• Oversee debtors, creditors, invoicing, collections, and supplier reconciliations
• Strengthen internal controls, maintain ERP/accounting systems, and ensure audit readiness
• Supervise and develop junior accountants, bookkeepers, and clerks

What we’re looking for:

• BCom Accounting or related degree (SAIPA/SAICA/ACCA Articles advantageous)
• 5–8 years’ accounting experience, ideally in logistics, supply chain, transport, or FMCG
• Strong knowledge of IFRS, VAT, payroll taxes, and audit requirements
• Experience with ERP/accounting systems (SAP, Pastel, Sage Evolution)
• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, modelling)
• Proven leadership experience managing finance staff
• Analytical, organised, and able to thrive under pressure
