Job Description

**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**

· NQF Level 5, 6 or 7 qualification in Criminal Justice, Policing, Forensic Investigation, Criminology or Law.

· Relevant qualifications may include a Higher Certificate or National Certificate in Criminal Justice or Forensic Investigation; National Diploma in Policing; Diploma in Forensic Investigation; Diploma in Criminal Justice; BA Criminology; BA Police Science; BTech Forensic Investigation; or LLB.

· The qualification must be relevant to the position and submitted with a certified copy.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**

· Conduct investigations involving theft, fraud, cable and copper loss, internal collusion and access breaches.

· Perform intelligence analysis, including trend and pattern analysis, hotspot mapping and risk and threat assessments.

· Prepare incident reports, statements and evidence records while maintaining chain of custody.

· Prepare dockets and manage cases from initial report through disciplinary hearing, SAPS handover or prosecution.

· Use PSIM systems or intelligence platforms where applicable.

· Maintain effective working relationships with SAPS, the Hawks and prosecuting authorities.

**PREFERRED EXPERIENCE**

· Valid PSIRA registration.

· Previous SAPS or SANDF service will be strongly regarded.

· Experience in criminal investigations, law enforcement, intelligence, security operations or related fields.

· Experience preparing statements, handling evidence and compiling case or docket documentation.

· Experience managing cases through disciplinary proceedings, SAPS handover or prosecution.

· Experience working with SAPS, the Hawks, prosecuting authorities or other relevant stakeholders.

· Exposure to intelligence platforms or Physical Security Information Management systems.

· Trend, pattern and hotspot-analysis skills.

· Risk and threat-assessment capability.

· Excellent written and verbal communication and report-writing skills.

· Sound judgement and close attention to detail.

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

· A valid driver’s licence will be advantageous.

**REQUIRED SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS**

· Detailed, signed and dated CV.

· Certified copy of the relevant qualification.

· Certified copy of ID.

· Valid PSIRA certificate.

· Relevant intelligence, PSIM or investigative training certificates, where applicable.

· Contactable reference letters, preferably including relevant case outcomes where these may legally be disclosed.

· Certified documents should be dated within three months of submission.
