The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key performance areas:

– Develop and manage the implementation of operational plans for the section.
– Manage the output of the capital analyst team responsible for capital-related support, monitoring and reporting of current and emerging risks pertaining to capital management.
– Lead and manage strategic relationships (stakeholders/clients, within the South African Reserve Bank and externally).
– Manage the delivery of work objectives by optimising resources, setting targets, prioritising work and directing other operational activities.
– Identify and mitigate risks related to own function and ensure compliance with relevant governance frameworks.
– Develop a risk-monitoring framework for the identification, monitoring and management of risks, including climate risk to the insurance and other sectors.
– Manage inputs to the macroeconomic assessment in collaboration with the Financial Stability Department and identifying emerging risks, trends and concentrations in the insurance and other sectors.
– Provide integrated management information reports on the insurance and other sectors to internal stakeholders and other relevant authorities.
– Participate in local and international committees or forums, including the International Association for Insurance Supervisors (IAIS), its subcommittees and the relevant working groups and those related to climate risk.
– Manage, develop and implement the regulatory and supervisory frameworks relating to capital management of insurers and other sectors.
– Manage staff performance and support career management and development.
