Job Description
iqbusiness is seeking experienced Cyber Security Project Managers for contract opportunities.
This role is suited to hands-on delivery leaders with a proven track record of managing complex cyber security projects and programmes from initiation through implementation and operational handover. Successful candidates will have extensive experience working with cyber security teams, security vendors, infrastructure teams, and business stakeholders to deliver security capabilities, reduce risk, strengthen compliance, and improve organisational resilience.
Core Cyber Security Delivery Experience:
Demonstrated experience delivering multiple projects and/or programmes across one or more of the following areas:
- Security Operations Centres (SOC)
- SIEM implementations and enhancements
- Endpoint Protection and EDR deployments
- Identity and Access Management (IAM)
- Privileged Access Management (PAM)
- Vulnerability Management
- Network and Firewall Security
- Email Security Solutions
- Cloud Security (Azure, AWS, GCP)
- Security Monitoring and Threat Detection
- Data Loss Prevention (DLP)
- Security Awareness Programmes
- Penetration Testing and Remediation Initiatives
- Cyber Security Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC)
- POPIA, ISO 27001, NIST and related regulatory/security frameworks
- Managed Security Services implementations and transitions
- Disaster Recovery and Cyber Resilience programmes
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead cyber security projects and programmes from initiation through execution and close-out.
- Manage delivery across security, infrastructure, application, and business teams.
- Define scope, governance, delivery approach, business outcomes, and success measures.
- Establish integrated plans covering resources, budget, vendors, security dependencies, and implementation activities.
- Coordinate multiple cyber security workstreams and managed security service providers.
- Proactively manage risks, issues, remediation actions, and security-related dependencies.
- Drive stakeholder engagement across executive, technical, risk, audit, and compliance teams.
- Monitor project health, delivery milestones, budgets, and benefits realisation.
- Provide clear reporting and governance updates to programme sponsors and steering committees.
- Ensure successful implementation, handover, operational readiness, and documentation.
Required Experience:
- 8+ years’ project and/or programme management experience.
- Proven experience delivering multiple cyber security projects within large enterprise environments.
- Experience managing security vendors and third-party partners.
- Strong understanding of cyber security concepts, controls, and governance frameworks.
- Experience working within regulated industries such as financial services, insurance, telecommunications, mining, or large corporate environments.
- Experience delivering projects using Agile, Waterfall, and Hybrid methodologies.
Education:
- Matric (essential)
- PRINCE2 Practitioner and/or PMP certification
- Degree or Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or Business Management (advantageous)
- Cyber Security certifications advantageous (e.g. CISSP, CISM, CRISC, ISO 27001, Security+, CEH)
