Job Description

A well-established company within the FMCG and supply chain sector is seeking a detail-oriented Procurement Officer to join their team in Johannesburg.

The successful candidate will be responsible for procurement coordination, demand planning, supplier management, and import tracking to ensure efficient supply chain operations and inventory control.

Key Responsibilities

Demand Planning

  • Collaborate with sales and operational teams to develop accurate demand forecasts
    • Analyze sales trends, lead times, and inventory requirements
    • Monitor inventory levels and identify shortages or excess stock
    • Adjust procurement plans based on business and operational needs

Procurement & Import Coordination

  • Coordinate supplier orders, deliveries, and lead times
    • Track supplier shipments and import documentation
    • Liaise with freight forwarders, logistics providers, and warehouse teams
    • Ensure products are received on time with the correct documentation
    • Resolve supply chain and delivery issues efficiently

Supplier Management

  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships
    • Monitor supplier performance and delivery timelines
    • Identify and escalate supply chain risks or delays
    • Support supplier performance improvement initiatives

Continuous Improvement & Compliance

  • Identify opportunities to improve procurement and inventory processes
    • Ensure compliance with importation and transportation requirements
    • Maintain accurate supplier records and procurement documentation

 

Minimum Requirements

  • Matric with Mathematics and Accounting
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Finance, or related field
    • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
    • 3–5 years’ experience in procurement or supply chain within FMCG or similar industries
    • Experience in demand planning and inventory management
    • Strong analytical and reporting skills
    • Experience working with ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle
    • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
    • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability
    • Valid driver’s license
