Job Description
A renewable energy and infrastructure-focused Company is looking for an experienced HR Generalist with strong site-based HR operations experience to provide end-to-end human capital support within a remote solar plant environment. The role will ensure effective implementation of HR policies, compliance with South African labour legislation, workforce reporting, and employee relations management across a multi-employer site structure including contractors and subcontractors.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver end-to-end HR generalist services on a remote construction/plant site
- Support workforce planning, recruitment, onboarding, and offboarding processes
- Compile daily, weekly, and monthly HR reports including headcount, absenteeism, turnover, EE, overtime, and training metrics
- Maintain HR dashboards and ensure data integrity across HR systems and reporting tools
- Manage employee relations including disciplinary processes, grievances, and dispute resolution
- Ensure compliance with labour legislation (LRA, BCEA, EEA, SDA) and project-specific requirements
- Support union engagement and represent the employer in disciplinary hearings where required
- Coordinate training, skills development tracking, and compliance reporting for all workforce groups
- Manage time and attendance processes and submit accurate payroll inputs (timesheets, overtime, allowances)
- Resolve payroll queries and ensure alignment between contractor records and payroll submissions
- Liaise between site workforce, contractors, community stakeholders, and head office HR
- Support community employment initiatives and workforce reporting requirements
- Maintain audit-ready HR records and documentation at all times
Requirements:
- Diploma or Degree in Human Resources or related field (Degree preferred)
- 3–5 years’ HR generalist experience (site-based experience in construction, mining, or energy preferred)
- Strong knowledge of South African labour legislation (LRA, BCEA, EEA, SDA)
- Experience working in contractor-heavy or multi-employer environments advantageous
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and HR reporting capability
- Experience with HRIS systems and workforce data management
- Strong understanding of payroll input processes and time & attendance systems
- Ability to work independently in remote, high-pressure operational environments
- Strong communication, organisational, and stakeholder management skills
- High attention to detail, compliance focus, and ability to manage multiple HR functions simultaneously
