Job Description

A dynamic financial services company is looking for an experienced Credit Analyst with strong credit risk assessment and financial analysis skills to evaluate loan applications, ensure regulatory compliance, and support sound lending decisions within a bridging finance environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in assessing creditworthiness, mitigating risk, and maintaining portfolio quality in line with strict compliance frameworks.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct detailed financial analysis and credit risk assessments on bridging loan applications
  • Perform due diligence on applicants, including review of financial statements, credit reports, and supporting documentation
  • Evaluate creditworthiness and affordability in line with internal policies and regulatory requirements
  • Assist in structuring underwriting decisions to mitigate financial risk
  • Ensure all credit assessments comply with relevant legislation including NCA and POPIA
  • Maintain accurate, audit-ready documentation for all credit decisions and transactions
  • Support credit policy refinement and adherence to internal risk frameworks
  • Monitor portfolio performance and identify early warning indicators of risk or delinquency
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to resolve credit-related issues
  • Contribute to data-driven credit assessment and risk segmentation processes

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Law, or related field
  • 2+ years’ experience in credit analysis, risk assessment, or similar role
  • Strong understanding of the National Credit Act (NCA) and South African lending regulations
  • Proven financial analysis, underwriting, and financial modelling skills
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and financial systems proficiency
  • Strong attention to detail with high levels of accuracy in documentation
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
  • Strong communication skills for stakeholder engagement and reporting
  • High ethical standards and ability to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
  • Experience with legal documentation or alternative lending models is an advantage
