Job Description
Our client is seeking an experienced Deputy Director: Sustainable Human Settlement to drive sustainable human settlement initiatives through innovative technologies, effective project management, and strategic stakeholder engagement. The successful candidate will contribute to economic growth, poverty reduction, and sustainable resource management by overseeing projects and collaborating with key partners.
**Key Responsibilities**
– Manage and monitor sustainable human settlement projects from planning through implementation and evaluation.
– Conduct project monitoring, field verification, reporting, and maintain project databases.
– Evaluate project proposals and coordinate the approval and implementation of funded projects.
– Manage contracts with implementing agencies and ensure compliance with contractual obligations and the PFMA.
– Coordinate stakeholder engagement with government departments, municipalities, universities, science councils, and other partners.
– Prepare reports, briefing notes, Cabinet submissions, and other strategic documentation.
– Monitor project budgets, financial performance, and the transfer of funds to implementing agencies.
– Facilitate enterprise development initiatives and monitor project performance indicators.
– Conduct research, develop policy briefs, case studies, and knowledge products to support sustainable human settlement initiatives.
**Minimum Requirements**
– National Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in the Built Environment or Development Planning.
– A Project Management qualification of at least one year will be an added advantage.
– Minimum of three years’ experience in the built environment or development management.
– **Required Knowledge and Skills**
– **Knowledge of the National System of Innovation.**
– Understanding of integrated development planning, local economic development, and sustainable human settlement.
– Project management and financial management skills.
– Strong analytical, research, negotiation, communication, report writing, and interpersonal skills.
– Computer literacy and the ability to work independently and within a team.
