Job Description

Salary: R413,001 per annum

Requirements: Matric/Grade 12/Senior Certificate plus a three-year recognised qualification at NQF level 6/7 in Electrical Engineering. A valid driver’s licence is essential. Knowledge of departmental policies and procedures, the Occupational Health and Safety Act (as amended), Regulations (21), South African National Standards (Codes) as incorporated into regulations, the Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act, and the Unemployment Insurance Act is required.

 

Skills: Planning and organising, communication, computer literacy, facilitation, interpersonal skills, conflict resolution, negotiation, problem solving, interviewing, presentation, innovation, analytical thinking, and strong verbal and written communication.

 

Duties: Plan and independently carry out inspections to ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Act 85 of 1993, relevant regulations, and incorporated standards. Confirm registration in terms of the Unemployment Insurance Act and the Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act. Investigate and finalise incidents and complaints related to the OHS Act, enforce compliance when necessary, and appear in court as a State witness. Conduct proactive inspections as per schedule to monitor adherence to labour legislation, compile and consolidate resulting reports. Plan and execute advocacy campaigns on all labour legislation, analyse their impact, and compile reports. Contribute to the planning, drafting, and maintenance of regional inspection plans and reports.
