Job Description

Responsible for maintaining and repairing production machinery, ensuring operational efficiency, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. This role combines technical fault-finding, preventative maintenance, and compliance with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) to minimize downtime.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic faults.
  • Respond to breakdowns and conduct root cause analysis (RCA).
  • Support installation and commissioning of new machinery.
  • Maintain accurate records using CMMS systems.
  • Ensure compliance with OHSA, SANS, ISO 9001, and IATF 16949 standards.
  • Drive Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) improvements and support lean initiatives such as Six Sigma, Kaizen, and 6S.
  • Provide standby support and work shifts as required.
  • Train and mentor junior staff and machine operators.

Requirements

  • Trade-tested Artisan (Millwright, Electrician, or Fitter & Turner) or National Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering.
  • 3–5 years’ experience in injection moulding and extrusion maintenance within automotive or FMCG manufacturing.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills.
  • Knowledge of PLC troubleshooting.
  • Valid driver’s license and own transport.
  • Willingness to work shifts and provide standby support.

Required skills
