Job Description
Key areas of responsibility include in South Africa and foreign territories:
- At least 2 years post-articles experience in IP essential
- LLB degree, Admitted attorney
- Passed SAIIPPL exams
- Trade mark clearance searches
- Prosecution of trade mark applications
- Assignments and amendments of trade marks
- Enforcement of trade mark and copyright matters
- Trade mark oppositions before the relevant registries and the High Court
- Commercial and transactional IP including co-existence agreements and licences
- Company name disputes
- Domain name disputes and administration
- Conduct legal research and provide opinions on intellectual property issues
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
- Strong drafting skills
- Attention to detail
- Good interpersonal skills
- Maintain confidentiality
- Reliability and self motivation and ability to work on their own and in a team
- Excellent organisational skills
- Provide exceptional client service
