**Role Purpose/Business Unit:**

To oversee and manage customer relationships of the large enterprise customers/key accounts, leveraging of our products and solutions to address the customer needs. Enables the solution delivery through collaborating with internal and external stakeholders with the objective to defend and grow the base. Drives and delivers sales targets, customer experience and commercial objectives of the portfolio through sales discipline and practice of account planning, pipeline and opportunity management

**Your responsibilities will include:**

**Sales & Stakeholder Management**

– Primary owner of all customer relationship building and engagements in the designated portfolio
– Proactively mitigates and defends the base while driving portfolio revenue growth
– Develop a healthy, productive and respectful relationship with all key customers/ stakeholders based on integrity and professionalism
– Acquire a thorough understanding of key customer needs and requirements, to provide relevant and value adding solutions to deepen the relationship and service offerings
– Uphold sales best practice of accurately documenting sales plans, account development plans (ADP), engagement plans, tracking and monitoring sales conversions and implementation
– Develop a pipeline of prospects which are systematically qualified, managing the decision-making process within allocated accounts to ensure sales prospects are closed
– Own escalated customer complaints for the portfolio and collaborate with the relevant internal stakeholders to ensure they are closed to cultivate trust and delight our customers.
– To support finance in recovering overdue and non-payment by clients
– Ensure the correct products and services are delivered to customers in a timely manner as per the customer needs and objectives
– Serve as the link of communication between key customers and internal teams to ensure both proactive and reactive engagements are managed seamless
– Play an integral part in generating new sales that will turn into long-lasting relationships
– Clearly communicate the progress of monthly/quarterly initiatives to internal and external stakeholders

**Reporting**

– Prepare monthly/ Weekly Run Rate and Demand Management
– Perform Sales Analysis by product
– Annual Sales Strategy & Budget Planning
– Prepare regular reports of progress and forecasts to internal and external stakeholders using key account metrics
– Forecast and track key account metrics
– Prepare reports on account status, give recommendations to maximize sales as per the identifying trends, gaps and opportunities. (Strategic Account Plan / Joint Account Planning)

**The ideal candidate for this role will have:**

– Degree / Diploma – Essential. (A 3-year Sales / Technical or Business Diploma/Degree or SAQA Accredited relevant Equivalent)
– A Post Graduate Degree advantageous

– A minimum of 3+ years’ (Account Manager) OR 5+ years’ (Senior Account Manager) work experience in a Sales and Service experience in the telecommunications or technology related environments e.g. (ICT) with demonstrated experience in:

– Portfolio management
– Ability to increase NPS results and reduce administrative expense
– Ability to build relationships

– A valid driver’s licence

**Technical Competencies**

– Experience in solution selling within enterprise customers

**Key Responsibilities**

– Initiate and implement sales strategies to achieve & exceed corporate sales objectives

Detail HCPs in line with the Haleon model and train staff in-store (inclusive of Pharmacists, Pharmacy Assistants, Front shop assistants & Clinic Sisters) during planned Lunch & Learn sessions (- Compliance with customer relationship management tool (e.g. FSFA, Veeva)
– Effective communication of trained scientific knowledge to drive recommendation and build trust
– Development and implementation of mutually agreed annual Customer Joint Business Plans with key customers
– Co-ordinate the efforts of assigned 3rd Party merchandising agents within Independent Pharmacy, Clicks & Dis-Chem
– Develop strong customer relations within the identified channels to maximise business opportunities and grow the business
– Directly responsible for delivering against assigned sales targets by selling, merchandising, and detailing to agreed segmented & targeted customer base
– Meet coverage criteria of the customer base according to set segmentation and targeting parameters
– Ensure effective area distribution and supply by maintaining adequate stock cover in all customers
– Achieve set sales targets as per business requirement and implement quarterly marketing strategy
– Monitor and analyse sales performance through SSD data
– Negotiate the order to meet demand and expected off-take and pull through of stock
– Negotiate adequate share of shelf (SoS), forward share (in line with market share) to drive consumption
– Generate action plans to correct areas of weakness and capitalise on areas of opportunity
– Identify new business opportunities which will have a positive effect on the region and the company
– Use all available data to maximise sales within each area
– Initiate ideas and concepts that will drive sales
– Meet innovation and business KPIs as per HALEON 3 Objectives +1 Development plan
– In-depth knowledge of products once trained and maintenance of knowledge through quarterly tests (pass mark >90%)

**Role Purpose/Business Unit**

The core purpose of this role is to provide high quality reward & benefits guidance and support for operating companies within Vodacom Group. **The Ideal Candidate For This Role Will Have**

– Post Matric qualification – 3 year Degree/Diploma from a recognised tertiary institution in either HR or Finance.
– 5 – 8 years sound experience in compensation management and/or data analysis.
– South African Reward Association (SARA) Global Reward Practitioner qualification would be an advantage.

Different ways to learn on the job

We hear a lot about learning & development in the workplace, and it’s something we look forward to (or at least I do). And if you’re really lucky, your company may have a special allowance or is well-known for providing training opportunities.

But most of the time (at best), it’s a once a year course everyone gets sent to, someone who comes to give a presentation to the team, or a compulsory online course. Not that exciting and certainly not that personal…

But when we think about how important it is to grow as professionals so we stay relevant in our jobs, we should be investing in learning & development much more regularly. If you’re not so lucky as to have a learning and development allowance, or if your company is not all that excited about the prospect, don’t worry there are still ways for you to learn on the job, and at low cost!

– Watch & learn from your peers & superiors. You are surrounded by colleagues who all have different backgrounds, experiences and ways of working than you do. The great thing about that is that there’s pretty much always something to learn from them. Be curious about how they do their jobs, notice what interests you, and ask them questions!
– LinkedIn. It’s a great source to find thought leaders and professionals in your field. There are a lot of conversations taking place that you can join in and exchange ideas, there are lots of relevant articles being shared, and of course you can follow thought leaders or CEOs… Not to mention LinkedIn groups in which you can find thriving communities discussing topics of interest.
– Podcasts. I’ve become a huge podcast geek and there are so many out there you can listen to in order to open your mind and learn about a whole variety of topics. Sometimes learning doesn’t always come directly from the topic you think you should know but from something completely random. And the great thing about podcasts is that you can listen to them while on the go: running, cooking, cleaning, commuting… Watch this space for some of my favourites…
– Books. Of course books are another great and “traditional” way to learn. There are many interseting business books to be read, from ones about management styles (again here), to business models such as Content Inc. to others such as Give and Take or biographies like Hit Refresh, there’s something for everyone.
– TED Talks. The world famous talks are all archived online and are ready for you to watch at your leisure. In fact, the website will even curate talks for you based on your interests!
– Online courses. There are a number of platforms out there like Udemy, Coursera, or Lynda that offer online courses at a low cost, or sometimes for free.
– Use your experts. If you have experts within your company or your team, why not ask them if they’d be willing to give up some of their time to teach the rest of you?
– Attend meetups, free conferences and networking events. The majority of large conferences in your field will likely be paying, but there are also free networking events organized where people put together talks and bring in experts. These can be a great place to learn whilst meeting new people.
– Be an internal advocate! You can also start to champion learning & development within your company, which is what I did in my last job. Find opportunities to share back knowledge with your team, share interesting articles you read, spark debates over lunch time… Do your best to bring your curiosity to the rest of your team and encourage them to share knowledge.

With all that, you have a lot to get you on your way even if your company isn’t investing in formal training for you! And if they do, start reasearching and listing all the different courses you’re interested in.

Ia să-i aducem pe cei din Germania trei luni în România și să-i trimitem pe români acolo, să vedem care-s mai productivi!

Când am ajuns prima dată să stau mai mult timp în birourile din străinătate ale unei mari și mândre corporații, acum vreo 20 de ani, când am văzut și am înțeles cam ce fac, cum și cât lucrează, am fost șocat. Nu făceau cu nimic mai mult și mai bine decât cei de la filiala lor din București. Ba dimpotrivă, am început eu să-mi dau seama. Un angajat de acolo se ocupa de mai puține dosare și proiecte decât cel de aici, le termina într-un timp mai lung, și nu neapărat mai bine. Apoi am ajuns la alții, și la alții, și am început să mă obișnuiesc cu șocurile.

Altă surpriză de proporții am avut când am luat mai de-a fir a păr faimoasele proceduri ale firmelor occidentale, proceduri care, se știe, fac adesea marea diferență. Încă o dată am văzut cum au greșit marii noștri profesori de la facultate care ne garantau, cu mâna pe inimă, că logica e universală. În bussiness nu e, se vede treaba. Iar despre calculatoare, softuri, tehnologie în procesele de management, de organizare industrială și pe unde te așteptai să fie, nu mai spun, surprize, surprize!

Zilele trecute am fost la o fabrică a altora mari, cu zeci de fabrici pe vreo trei continente. Nu vând nimic în România, doar produc aici și apoi trimit peste tot în lume. Fabrica de la noi are cea mai mare productivitate din Europa și e a doua sau a treia din lume. Căutau un director general. Și mi-au spus că nu au nevoie de un geniu, ba dimpotrivă, vor pe unul care să nu îi streseze. *Tot ce are de făcut e common sense, domnule Butunoiu!* Într-adevăr, când mi-au arătat ce și cum, nimic, dar absolut nimic nu era nemaivăzut, nemaiauzit.

Și mii de oameni cu care am stat de vorbă îmi confirmă că nu sunt primul care a văzut asta. Acesta e jobul meu, pentru asta sunt plătit, să stau de vorbă, de dimineața până noaptea, cu oameni care îmi spun ce și cum au făcut, cum e acolo, cum e dincolo, de ce cred ei că e mai bine așa și nu altfel, lucruri din acestea. Și sigur, mulți sunt surprinși când ajung prima dată „dincolo” și intră într-o firmă, trecând de biroul frumos amenajat al recepționistei. Poate că cea mai sintetică și mai semnificativă descriere e cea a unuia care s-a dus pentru prima dată la sediul central din Viena al companiei lui de asigurări: Să știți că în firmă era exact ca la noi, și vă pot spune asta după ce am stat câteva săptămâni bune. Dar, cum treceai de ușă și ieșeai în oraș, te trezeai dintr-odată în altă lume față de cea din care venim noi…

Și mai interesant e când cei de aici sunt mai eficienți și o iau înaintea celor de dincolo. Îmi povestea cu nervi un prieten dintr-o mare firmă de servicii financiare că tocmai au primit o directivă de la head-office cum că trebuie să introducă anumite sisteme, procese și proceduri pe care compania le-a impus la nivel global. Era un sistem pe care ei îl avuseseră deja în urmă cu vreo trei ani, dar pe care l-au înlocuit cu unul mult mai avansat, prin care, cu opt oameni fac acum ceea ce vreo 50 de dincolo fac nu atât de repede. S-au suit cu toții în avion, în frunte cu președintele străin al filialei din România, și s-au dus la head-office că să-i convingă să nu schimbe lucrurile la București. Dar cei de dincolo nu și nu, directiva e directivă, toată lumea trebuie să treacă la noile sisteme. Și, o să vă întoarceți cu cei câțiva ani în urmă? Nu, evident că nu, dar vă trebui să găsim o soluție că să ne prefacem că am făcut-o. O să ne coste ceva în plus, dar, asta e, daca e directiva…

Totuși, productivitatea în România e la jumătate față de cea de dincolo – ni se spune neîncetat. Păi cum așa? Pai, nu vedeți, dincolo vindem de două ori mai mult, cu același număr de oameni! Serios? Ia să-i aducem pe cei din Gemania trei luni în România, și să-i trimitem pe cei de aici dincolo. Să vedem cât vor vinde nemții aici, să vedem cum e cu productivitatea într-o țară de oameni saraci, cu administrație coruptă și putredă până în măduvă oaselor, cu justiție care funcționează doar când e să-i prindă pe cei care fură statul, dar niciodată pe cei care înșală o companie privată, acolo unde un contract nu are nicio valoare, iar dacă te fură un angajat trebuie să-i dai și salarii compensatorii că să scapi de el.

Da, când spui că productivitatea e mai mare sau mai mică într-o zonă sau în alta, într-o țară sau alta, primul impuls este să crezi că oamenii din companiile de acolo sunt mai deștepți sau mai proști decât alții, mai silitori sau mai leneși, că muncesc ore mai lungi sau mai scurte decât ceilalți. Dar nu este așa! Cauzele diferențelor de „productivitate” trebuie căutate în alta parte! Și chiar mai mult, aș spune, cei din țările cu productivitate la jumătate sunt obligați să fie mai inventivi, mai inteligenți, să lucreze mai mult și mai bine de cât ceilalți. Altfel, dacă ar fi la fel ca ei, „productivitatea” ar scădea la sfert… Cum spunea un prieten străin, la fel de sintetic și de elocvent: E uimitor că nu se miră nimeni cât de mult pot vinde la voi, totuși, unele companii într-o țară administrată astfel. Și, oricum, într-o astfel de țară, mărirea productivității nu e neapărat o garanție a unui business mai mare și mai profitabil. Am văzut destui care și-au dublat, și-au triplat productivitatea. Și, la ce le-a folosit?

Și da, probabil că următorul mare salt în productivitate în România va fi atunci când oamenii de afaceri se vor implica direct în politică, spre a face și acolo lucrurile așa cum le-au făcut în companiile lor. Dacă au arătat atât de clar că pot face lucrurile la fel ca dincolo, de ce să nu meargă mai departe? S-ar putea să fie ultima mare, foarte mare rezervă de productivitate de la noi. Eu le recomand să facă niște calcule la rece, să vadă ce au de pierdut și de castigat pe termen scurt, mediu și lung, așa cum fac toate celelalte analize de oportunitate și de business…

PS: celor care vor sări în sus și vor spune că, iată, ce prostie, eu am văzut o firmă în Italia în care cei de acolo erau mult, mult mai tari decât cei de la filiala lor din București, le spun că da, și eu am văzut firme mult mai tari dincolo, infinit mai avansate și mai sofisticate. Doar că nu despre ele e articolul ăsta…

SILA: Enhancing Long-Context Retrieval Capability of Linear Attention via Selective Ignoring

A Visual Language Model (VLM) learns a joint understanding of image and text and generates text based on this understanding. Yet when multiple visual cues within an image conflict—such as a written word and its ink color—we do not fully understand how the model decides which signal to prioritize. A classical psychological paradigm to study how conflicting cues affect decision is the Stroop test, where participants are shown words in incongruent ink colors (e.g., the word “red” written in blue) and are instructed to report the ink color rather than read the word. We adapt the Stroop paradigm to VLMs and study how conflicting cues in the written word or ink color influence model behavior. Applying the Stroop test on a range of contrastive and generative VLMs suggests the models favor textual cues over color when text and color conflict. Analyzing the representation of the two cue types suggests that text cues in images are more salient than the color cues. This difference in saliency also translates to different intervention success in steering the VLMs: we found that it is easier to steer the embedding to make the model favor text cues than color cues. Overall, using the Stroop test, our findings suggest VLMs, similar to humans, are biased to “read” an image rather than to “see,” and the saliency of the two cue types is reflected in their embedding space. We will release our dataset and code to support future research upon acceptance.

Purpose of Job

Lead and govern the end‑to‑end condition monitoring programme for all rotating equipment, ensuring early fault detection, improved reliability, and optimal asset availability. Oversee diagnostics and performance of anti‑surge systems and real‑time monitoring technology.

Ensure proper governance and monitoring of overspeed protection systems as part of equipment trip logic.

Review and analyse condition monitoring data to identify early‑stage defects and recommend corrective actions.

Lead and participate in root cause failure analysis (RCFA) for major failures or recurring defects.

Support commissioning and post‑overhaul verification of rotating equipment, including field balancing and alignment checks.

**Budgeting, CAPEX & Commercial Governance**

Own and manage the OPEX budget for condition monitoring; track budget vs actuals and drive cost control per cost element.

Contribute to the rolling CAPEX plan, including asset replacement, improvement projects, and technology upgrades.

Manage inventory and spares strategies for all CM tools, sensors, and instrumentation equipment.

Oversee service providers, evaluate technical competence, manage contracts, and ensure SLA compliance.

Implement cost‑effective reliability and maintenance solutions aligned to business priorities.

**Systems, Reporting & Process Control**

Use SAP PM for planning, execution, notifications, work orders, and asset history management.

Drive the transition to online and real‑time asset health monitoring systems across the complex.

Manage and govern the oil analysis programme, ensuring standardisation and follow‑up actions.

Conduct audits on CM execution, reporting, data quality, and follow‑up on non‑conformances.

**People Management & Collaboration**

Supervise and coach condition monitoring artisans, ensuring high-quality work and safe practices.

Work closely with Reliability Engineers, Mechanical/Instrumentation teams, and Operations to resolve deviations and implement long‑term improvements.

Provide training, mentorship, and knowledge‑sharing for teams involved in rotating equipment maintenance.

Build strong relationships with Operations, Maintenance, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment on equipment health priorities.

**Safety, Risk & Compliance**

Ensure all CM activities comply with SHE requirements, legal standards, and safe work practices.

Apply risk management principles and maintain risk visibility for critical rotating equipment.

Formal Education

National Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical / Electrical / Instrumentation) with 10+ years relevant experience

University Bachelor degree with 6+ years relevant experience

**Postgraduate Diploma In Engineering / Business / Management (Preferred)**
